Robert’s approach is shaped by over 30 years of corporate experience culminating in five years of executive management at Vodacom. He’s worked across diverse industries including IT, education, contact centres, telecommunications, oil refining, banking, broadcasting and life insurance.

Qualified in coaching, psychology and electrical engineering, Robert brings rare technical understanding to his coaching.

In 2009 he left corporate employment and trained as an Integral coach at The Coaching Centre in Bergvliet, Cape Town. He is registered with the International Coach Federation and is bound by their code of ethics.

Robert has coached at many organisations, including Datacash (Mastercard), Old Mutual, The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Foschini, Risk Flow, Potion Design, The Clothing Bank and a variety of NGOs.

He also works extensively with private individuals.

Personal Coaching

The bulk of Robert’s work is made up of coaching private individuals. Typical clients include those who are searching for meaning and direction, who may be mildly depressed and working with a therapist, or who have difficulty identifying and prioritising what is most important in their lives. Other examples include difficult relationships, career choice and change, changes in life (often around 30 or 50 years of age), menopause, retirement and retrenchment. Robert creates a safe, emotionally honest context for meaningful reflection, primarily using questions to facilitate change rather than just providing answers. This Socratic approach encourages sustainability and ongoing self-coaching. He’s passionate about working with people seeking personal growth, those who are in therapy with mild depression and people seeking purpose for their lives. As a visual thinker, Robert uses a metaphor-driven approach. Working within a narrative and integral framework he excels in restoring clients’ self-belief, developing the realisation that that they are capable of more than they believe. Typical Coaching Framework: Robert’s typical coaching program involves six to eight sessions, resulting in clients who are empowered with an understanding of their current environment, where they are headed and how they are going to get there.
